Why Does God Whisper?

Updated: May 2, 2019

After the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper.” 1 Kings 19:12 NLT

Have you ever noticed that when someone constantly yells it’s easy to tune out what they’re saying?

God has occasionally used a thunderous voice to communicate over the centuries, but more often He seems to use a whisper. Why?

What happens when someone whispers? We stop, lean in and pay attention. If we don’t, we won’t hear what’s being said.

The Creator King wants us to lean in toward Him. He wants us to want to hear what He says. Our Personal God wants a relationship with us, not as a drill sergeant but as a friend. How incredible is that?!

Sure, it would be easier if God told us what to do in ways so loud we can’t miss it. But what if, in doing so, we get the message but miss the Messenger? Whatever guidance you need from Him today pales in comparison to your need to know Him and have a close relationship with Him.

Lean in to hear the whisper of the Lord. Gaze intently into His Word. Quiet your heart and mind and listen. The intimacy you experience with your Abba (Daddy) God will fill you to overflowing and you’ll find that all the answers you seek can wait.

Your view of God reallymatters…

Do you pray to God as an impersonal force to be tapped into when you need help or as a personal God you can actually have a relationship with? GodWhoAreYouAnyway.com is a great resource to help you take the next step in your relationship with the God who loves you deeply, is always with you and will always answer when you call His name.

Read God’s Word Today…

Psalm 27:8 “My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with Me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.”

Psalm 145:18 “The Lord is close to all who call on Him, yes, to all who call on Him in truth.”

GOD, because You are Personal I will seek to know You better everyday.
