When you fall...

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:26

People warn us about ‘slippery slopes’, but do you know that the Lord is there ready to pull us back and save us?

Bill Bright once told a story. “My wife Vonette and I were wading down a shallow stream in Yosemite Park with our two young sons. Since the rocks were slippery, I was holding my five year old, Bradley, by the hand to keep him from slipping on the rocks.

Suddenly, Brad did slip, and his feet went out from under him. Fortunately I was holding his hand. I held him firmly until he regained his balance. Had he fallen, he would have been seriously injured.

As we continued on our walk, Brad looked up into my face with a radiant expression of gratitude. “Daddy,” he said, “I’m sure glad you saved me from falling.”

In the flash of a moment, it was as though God had spoken to me through Brad. I looked upwards and said, “Father, I am so glad You have kept me from falling; on thousands of occasions You have kept me from falling.”

Your View of God Really Matters…

Think of all the times in your life where you have narrowly avoided disaster. Then, give thanks to the Lord, for it is He who preserved and guided you. You are never saved by “chance” or “luck”.

It’s important to remember that God doesn’t promise He will keep us from all harm, He does promise, however, that He will give us what we need in order to handle whatever happens. He is holding your hand today. Ask Him to help you experience His presence and His help.

Reading God’s Word Today…

“You are the Lord, you alone. You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them; and you preserve all of them; and the host of heaven worships you.” Nehemiah 9:6

GOD, because You are love, I know that You hold on tight to me.
