When I am tired...

“But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint”. Isaiah 40:29-31

I flew all night from Los Angeles to New York for a very important meeting with the president of one of the major television networks. After only three hours in New York I flew back across the continent to Portland, Oregon, to speak that night at a conference of several hundred pastors.

Every fiber of my being ached with fatigue as I waited for my luggage in the Portand airport. In only 30 minutes I would be speaking to the pastors, yet I felt about as spiritual as a head of cabbage. Suddenly I felt impressed to pray, “Lord, do You have something You would like to share with me?”

Immediately I felt a leading to turn to the 40th chapter of Isaiah. As I read those familiar words, which at that instant had new and inspiring meaning for me, I sensed a surge of strength, energy and power flow into and through my body. I suddenly felt that I could have thrown my luggage over the building and run to the meeting several miles away.

I could hardly wait to stand before those servants of God and proclaim to them the wonder and majesty, the glory and power, the faithfulness and love of our God. Within a half hour or so, I did have that privilege and God empowered and anointed me for the occasion in a most unusual and marvelous way.

Your view of God really matters…

God created our bodies to function best with nutritional diets, moderate exercise and a fitful night’s sleep. The story is not to encourage you to work yourself to the point of exhaustion, but rather to encourage you to draw on the power of God when you are too weak to do what He’s asked you to do.

Today, ask Him to fill you with His power every time you feel weary. By faith claim His supernatural strength for every need.

Note from Brad Bright: Did you notice my dad’s response to his circumstances in the Portland airport? He didn’t complain about his schedule or his tired body. He turned his focus to his Almighty Father and asked if there was something God wanted him to hear. Amazing!! If only more of us would do the same! Imagine what we would hear and how it would change how we experience life and influence people!

Read God’s Word Today…

Isaiah 40:25, 28-29. “To whom will you compare Me? Who is My equal?” asks the Holy One… Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of His understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.”

GOD, because You are all-powerful I know You can give me the strength I need today.
