How does God feel about our "rights"?

“Though He (Jesus) was God, He did not think of equality with God as something to cling to.” Philippians 2:6

What are your rights? It seems everyone talks about “My rights” these days and how their rights are being denied—both inside and outside the church. But how does God feel about that?

Paul, after he had met our Lord Jesus on the road to Damascus, turned his back on all the prideful accomplishments he had as a scholar, as a ‘Hebrew of Hebrews’. He discounted his royal bloodlines, religious zeal, the approval of men and even the highest scholars and religious leaders of his time. Not until Paul turned away from all that human attention did he become an Apostle and help change the world forever.

Paul knew what it meant to serve. He surrendered everything to God and became an agent of His will denying himself and his rights. And through him, God did amazing things, things that Paul was privileged to see and that no one else has seen. But if he had not fully submitted and relinquished his rights, he never would have experienced the wonders God had in store.

God offers us the same opportunity. If we but submit ourselves fully, He will make us true instruments, extensions of His will on Earth. We will see Him do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine… if we will deny ourselves and follow Him.

Your view of God really matters…

What “rights” are you holding on to that prevent you from Christ-like servanthood?

The Lord expects his servants to think and serve according to His royal standards. Are you joyfully serving the Lord with excellence?

Read God’s Word Today…

“Instead, He (Jesus) gave up His divine privileges; He took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being.” Philippians 2:7

GOD, because You are Holy I will devote myself to You in purity, worship and service.
