“God knows all hearts, and He sees you.” Proverbs 24:12
We humans can be so petty. We judge others based on skin color, skill sets, background, achievements, gender… you name it we can find a way to judge it.
God has a completely different standard. He doesn’t judge skin color or gender. He loves the plethora of skin tones He created! Each one is beautiful. He formed male and female and wove into them His image. Neither is inferior in the Creators eyes. The King of Kings delights in the way different cultures worship Him and reflect His unchanging character.
Our all-knowing God judges the one thing we all have in common—the heart.
The psalmist writes, "The LORD looks down from heaven and sees the whole human race. From His throne He observes all who live on the earth. He made their hearts, so He understands everything they do." (Psalm 33:13-15)
God knows every good intention we have--as well as every thought to rebel against His commands. He knows our hearts better than we do. For followers of Jesus this can be very encouraging.
For example, during Jesus' final meal with His disciples before the crucifixion, He predicted that Simon Peter would deny Him. Jesus said to him, "Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers." (Luke 22:31-32)
Knowing the condition of Peter's heart and that Peter would later disciple his brothers and sisters in their faith, Jesus prayed for him even before his denial. Jesus does the same for us today.
Your View of God Really Matters …
It happened just as Jesus said. Peter did the one thing he swore he wouldn’t do—deny knowing Jesus—and then he did the two things Jesus said he would do; he confessed his sin and spent his life serving the Risen Lord. God knows your heart. If you’ve blown it, don’t listen to the lie that says God can’t forgive or won’t forgive. Jesus is your advocate and you are already forgiven. Confess your sin, ask God to help you experience His forgiveness and transform your heart into His.
