“Jesus rebuked the wind and the raging waves. The storm stopped and all was calm!” Luke 8:24
The plane was out of control. Flashes of lightening exploded in the sky and turbulence tossed the jet like a wild mustang throwing its first rider. Passengers and crew were terrified.
Bill and Vonette Bright sat next to each other. In all their years of travel, never had they encountered such a violent storm. It’s amazing what goes through your mind in times of crisis. Bill suddenly remembered the time two thousand years ago when the disciples feared for their lives as powerful wind and waves threatened their small boat. They had cried out to Jesus to save them and with a word He calmed the storm. Bill began to pray, “Oh, Lord, You have not lost Your power over nature. We ask You to still the storm and save us, though we are ready to meet You now if it is Your will. But if You have something yet for us to do in this life, we ask You not to allow the enemy to destroy us and all these other passengers.”
Almost immediately, the turbulence stopped. The plane was stabilized and they were able to land! Praise and thanksgiving to God broke out throughout the plane. Later they discovered that the jet had been severely damaged---lightning had punched two holes in the fuselage and knocked out the radar.
Their lives had truly been in danger. Yet, God is more powerful than the greatest storm. He has more power than all the forces of nature. The combined energy of earth's storms, winds, ocean waves, and other natural forces do not equal a fraction of God's omnipotence. There is no storm He cannot calm with but a word.
Your View of God Really Matters …

Read God’s Word Today…
Luke 8:22-24 NLT “One day Jesus said to His disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.” So they got in the boat and started out. As they sailed across, Jesus settled down for a nap. But soon a fierce storm came down on the lake. The boat was filling with water, and they were in real danger. The disciples went down and woke Him up, shouting, “Master, Master we’re going to drown!” When Jesus woke up He rebuked the wind and the raging waves. Suddenly the storm stopped and all was calm.”
GOD, because You are All-Powerful I know You can calm the storms of life.
